To examine the effect of AIDS testing on suicidal ideation, 244 men & 57 women completed the Beck Depression Inventory before & after notification. Findings indicate that, on average, suicidal ideation did not increase after AIDS testing. However, suicidal ideation persisted after notification in over 15% of both the seropositive & seronegative groups. Results are detailed & implications are discussed. (31 ref)
