Examines the psychological & social concomitants of panic disorder expressed as quality of life. Subjects with panic disorder are compared with those with major depression & with controls. Findings show that both panic disorder & depression are associated with increased risk of feelings of poor physical & emotional health, substance abuse, suicide attempts, poorer marital functioning, & increased use of health services & psychotropic drugs.
