Presents a study in which agreement of the underlying cause of death as determined from death certificate information is compared with that determined from an independent review of all relevant medical & legal documents of death by a panel of physicians. Death certificates were found to be accurate for broad categories of motor vehicle crash deaths & for broad & specific categories of suicide & homicide. Detailed results are provided. 23 refs.
