This report examines the plight of runaway & homeless youths in New York City. The authors detail demographic information, the number of children who seek shelter, psychiatric problems, school & academic achievements, the home life of runaways, sexual behaviour, health, histories of family violence, foster care, & what help they want. More than 50% come from violent homes, & are emotionally troubled. A high proportion have attempted suicide or have thought about it. (VM)
