Hospital patients aged 13-19 years completed self-administered questionnaires in a study designed to determine whether data collected directly from adolescents can be used to develop a simple model for differentiating suicidal from nonsuicidal adolescents. the model performed well when tested on the sample from which it was derived, but must be tested prospectively before it can be used clinically.
