Dysfunction of the central serotonergic system has been associated with depression & with suicidal &/or impulsive aggressive behavior. Prolactin responses to a challenge with fenfluramine hydrochloride were examined in 45 male patients with major affective &/or personality disorder. Results suggest that reduced central serotonergic function is present in a subgroup of patients with major affective &/or personality disorder & is associated with history of suicide attempts in those with either.CM
