Abstract
Female Alcoholics. I. Alcohol Dependence and Problems Associated With Prescribed Psychotropic Drug Use
Blankfield A
A case note study of 518 alcoholic inpatients & their reported past history of prescribed psychotropic drug patterns between 1973-1985. A significant relationship existed between past use of psychotropic drugs with a parental history of excessive alcohol intake, higher levels of MAST scores, & past parasuicide (i.e. attempted suicide) events. Patients in the group 35-54 years experienced less psychotropic drug use than those in the younger or older age groups. Gender differences were also noted.
