The presence of anchoring errors (errors that occur after information biases assessments of further information) within a counselling education student sample was examined using 3 sets of case material: good, bad, neutral. Results indicate that anchoring errors were present for all 3 cases regardless of severity, but that the presence of anchoring errors was restricted to those made as a result of reading “bad” material. Implications for alerting students in counselor education are discussed.
