The Armed Forces (IN: Suicide Theory and Clinical Aspects, ed. by L D Hankoff and B Einsidler)

This chapter looks at suicide among armed forces personnel. A review of previous studies is presented. These results & the results of a study by the author are described in an effort to further the knowledge of attempted suicide in relation to group interaction. The author concludes that the higher incidence rate in a 2 month period has significance as a meaningful group phenomenon & has a highly suggestive teleological relation to secondary gains. (CM)
