The author reviews what is included in the social services field; discusses how social services can play a key role in helping each community address the issues of youth suicide; reviews the limitations of social services serving at-risk youth, & makes 6 recommendations. For example, the Department should ensure that some of its youth suicide research be directed toward determining the extent to which youth at risk are the same children seen in other social services settings.
