There are 9 aspects of suicide prevention programs that must be developed & integrated into the different school-based programs (e.g. early identification, thorough evaluation of the disturbed youth, crisis intervention & case management, monitoring & followup, community linkage & networking). The author reviews the existing school programs & elaborates on some of the more critical aspects of the 9 components of a systmatic protocol that would comprise an effective prevention program. (CM)
