Substance Use and Abuse: a Risk Factor in Youth Suicide (IN: Report of the Secretary’s Task Force on Youth Suicide. Volume 2: Risk Factors for Youth Suicide)

A review of the literature dealing with the relationship between the use & abuse of substances & youth suicidal behavior. Included are those studies with attempted & completed suicides among youth. The authors feel that there is strong evidence connecting alcohol & drug use with suicide attempts & completions in both adults & adolescents. Also presented ate some clinical & research implications of the data reviewed in this paper. (CM)
