Experts commissioned by the Task Force catalogued, analyzed, & synthesized the literature on factors linked to youth suicide. Using this & 2 other sources, the Task Force determined the biochemical, psychological, & social factors most clearly linked to youth suicide. Some of these factors are substance abuse, parental loss & family disruption, & familial characteristics. Understanding the risk factors is essential to creating effective prevention strategies the Task Force believes. (CM)
