Suicidal Behavior in Long-Term Care Facilities: A Preliminary Report on an Ongoing Study
Osgood N J~~Brant B A
This is a national study of patterns of suicide behavior in long-term care facilities. Differences in methods & type of behavior by gender & age were identified. Environmental factors such as size of residential population, per diem rate, & auspice, as well as, staff turnover rate, influenced suicide behavior. Findings from this study suggest that elderly suicide both in institutions & in the community is an issue for caregivers. (CM)
