A national study of 463 long-term care facilities in the U.S. to identify environmental factors related to suicide in such facilities. Data was gathered using a questionnaire. Analyses showed 4 environmental factors related to suicidal behavior & deaths from suicide. The larger the staff & the higher the staff turnover, the more likely some form of suicidal behavior will exist. Death from suicide was more likely in public or “other” facilities charging less per day. (CM)
