Abstract
Attitudes Toward Suicide: A Comparison of Canadian and U.S. College Students
Domino G~~Leenaars A A
The Suicide Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) was given to 2 samples (N=100 each), 1 from Canada & 1 from the US. Results indicate substantial intergroup differences but no sex differences & also showed sig. differences on 8 of the 15 SOQ factors, suggesting Canadian students see suicide as part of everyday life. Results are discussed in terms of 6 themes present in suicide literature. Speculation is also provided regarding why such differences (despite considerable similarities) might exist.
