737 students were surveyed using a self-report measure of suicidal ideation. Over 43% reported some level of ideation during the prev. yr. Serious ideation & actual attempts were related to several demographic traits & implications of the results are discussed. Findings indicate the problem of youth suicide may be greater than previously thought & also indirectly support the hypothesis that the difference in M-F completed suicide rates is primarily a function of the lethality of the attempts.
