A study of the 1970 graduating class of Yale Medical School revealed that a group of students could be defined who seemed dissatisfied with themselves & their profession. The purpose of the study was to determine whether this group had been in conflict about being in medical school & their future role in medicine since their entrance into medical school or whether the disenchantment evolved during the course of medical school. Some of the manifestations of this disaffection are reported.
