Genetics and Suicidal Behavior (IN: Suicide Among Youth: Perspectives on Risk and Prevention, ed. by C R Pfeffer)
Roy A
Reviews clinical, twin, Iowa-500, Amish, & Copenhagen adoption studies, which provide evidence about genetic factors in suicide. The author suggests that, although most of the studies are of suicidal behavior among adults, it is likely that genetic factors for suicide are similar in adolescents. Implications for the prevention of youth suicide are included. (43 ref)
