This chapter describes phases I & III of a systematic study of childhood & adolescent suicide. Phase I involves a study of the incidence & patterns of completed suicide & includes data relative to age, sex, race, time, season, & method. Phase II presents a psychological autopsy study designed to develop methodology for follow-up to explore the circumstances of the suicide & to help prevent future suicides among the bereaved through support, education, & referral.
