Age of Alcoholism Onset: Relationship to Psychopathology

Two subpopulations of alcoholic patients were assessed for comparison to Cloninger’s typology. The criterion of age of alcoholism onset revealed a subgroup who display alcohol-seeking behavior early in life. Hostile tendencies, paternal alcoholism, depression, & suicidal tendencies were characteristic of this subgroup. (32 ref)
