This chapter begins with a discussion of the need for suicide prevention programs & the difficulties involved in their development. A description of some current programming practices follows. A set of requirements for suicide prevention programs is presented along with a programming model based on these requirements & a description of an actual program based upon the model. The chapter concludes with ideas for networking, program expansion and program evaluation.
