A number of cases of completed or potential geriatric suicide are presented to demonstrate the interplay of various suicidogenic forces in late life. The negative effects of loss of spouse, retirement, physical illness, & the role of alcoholism, & of early life experiences are highlighted. A profile of the “at risk” elderly is given.
