A study involving 597 adolescent girls in treatment for substance abuse from 1984-1986 in which over one third of the girls was found to have a history of sexual abuse victimization is detailed. Within the study population, sexual abuse victims showed a greater incidence of suicidal ideation & attempts, symptoms of agitation, & a sense of shame about the self. 9 refs.
