Synopsis: Runaway & Homeless Youth Suicide Prevention Training Project
Mental Health Association of North Dakota
This project is an effort to provide training & materials to those who deal with homeless youth in North & South Dakota, Montana, & Wyoming. The major findings indicate: prevention training effectively increases staff confidence in identifying & intervening with suicidal youth; a significant need for basic training; suicide attempts in the 4 states are increasing & documentation of youth suicide is ineffective & responses from shelters regarding inter-agency networking were varied.
