Knowledge about suicide is examined using a questionnaire designed from Shneidman’s list of 8 facts & 8 myths. The questionnaire was completed by 199 Ss attending a conference on suicide, & analyzed for age, sex, education, professional status, & exposure to suicide. Overall knowledge was 81.53%; mental health professionals, & those who had seriously contemplated suicide, knew more than others, but there was no effect for acquaintance with someone who had attempted or completed suicide.
