The author argues that adopting & implementing a socio-ecological approach to health will lessen the frequency & severity of suicide in native communities. To reduce the rate & impact of suicide, the health & welfare of the community as a whole must be improved. Health promotion, which is holistic in nature, is the most likely to do this. (MM)
