Gives a preliminary report on the use of the Teacher Interview for Psychiatric Symptoms (TIPS). This telephone interview is predicated upon the relevance of school information to the diagnosis of affective disorder in children; consideration of teachers as expert observers of a given age-group, & findings that teachers can reliably report on school activities. 8 months use with 75 teachers indicated that the TIPS program was clinically useful & efficient.
