Reported suicide rates for children aged 10-14 years in England & Wales remain at low levels. There has been a decrease in rates for males in this age group between the 1940’s and the 1980’s & an increase for females, so that suicide by poisoning with solids and liquids (including overdosing) which occurred up until the 1970’s has not continued into the 1980’s.
