Psychopathological symptoms of 342 manic-depressive patients with a family history of manic-depressive illness & suicide were compared with 80 manic-depressive patients without a family history of suicide. In contrast to the family history-suicide group where suicidal tendencies & attempted suicides were more frequent, the family history without suicide group revealed a higher frequency of delusions. Comparisons regarding suicide tendencies & other items showed no differences between the sexes.
