Qestionnaires & interviews were given to 318 youth (12 to 15 yrs.). 1000 high-school students, 465 parents, & 136 youth service providers. As well, psychological autopsy data were recovered for 44 youth (12 to 20 yrs.) All groups saw intrapersonal problems (stress, hopelessness, depression, low self-esteem) as major causes of youth suicide, & also mentioned family instability & interpersonal problems. Suggestions for preventing youth suicide included social support & formal interventions. (RM)
