Sexual & Physical Abuse: Suicide Risk Factors for Women? Preliminiary Results of an Empirical Study

This proceeding presents preliminary experimental data regarding sexual & physical abuse as possible risk factors for suicide. Utilizing data from personal interviews, the authors investigated the prevalence of sexual & physical abuse among women who have exhibited suicidal behaviours. Based on the information provided by 97 hospitalized women in The Netherlands, results indicate that a history of abuse may be associated with suicidal behaviour. (SC)
