The author of this summarized study examined data on a groupof 50 female suicide attempters to ascertain if females use suicide to change their life situations & are successful in the endeavor. Degree of lethal intentionality & secondary gains were measured. Results include: 38% with high lethal intentionality, 32% with medium & 30% with low; 46% reported no life changes; 38% positive changes, 19% both positive & negative; 6%, negative changes.
