The Maine Task Force on self-destructive behaviors in teens revealed that teenage suicide was the second leading cause of death, 12% are chemically dependent & over half of all fatal accidents involving teenage drivers also involve alcohol or drugs. This summary is a general discussion on the reasons for such behaviors: low self-esteem, poor problem solving & decision making skills, lack of a sense of belonging, & ways of aiding teens through home, school & community involvement.
