This is a summary of a paper which involved the collection of data on suicidal behavior in Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada. The following areas were studied: how suicides are declared & entered into official statistics, psychological autopsies with emphasis on preventability & depression in the victim, recent statistical trends, & suicide attempts showing lethality of intent. Findings include: no increase in the suicide rate & a decline in the rate of increase over the past decade. (GW)
