This synopsis of a study undertaken to evaluate which first aid organizations should be kept under control in order to obtain accurate data considers the sources used: hospitals, general practitioners & the Padua registry offices & discusses the social-demographic analysis of the 223 attempted & 36 completed suicide cases identified. Findings include: verifications of the unreliability of national statistics & the important role GP’s play in providing suicide data. (GW)
