To determine special groups with a very high risk of suicide, the authors examined official data, noting sex, age, marital status, profession, date & method of suicide, previous inpatient psychiatric treatment & the time between the end of treatment & suicide. In this summary of their analysis, they conclude that unemployed & widowed men; divorced people, particularly young men; & the elderly have the highest suicide risk. Psychiatric treatment is not relevant. (GW)
