Among 116 attempted suicides during 1982-84 at Jukai, the dense forest near Mount Fuji that has become a well-known spot for taking one’s life, 3 developed psychogenic amnesia. In this summary, the author briefly discusses the case of one of the 3 amnesics who subsequently committed suicide, the significance of Jukai, & amnesia as an alternative to suicide & therefore, as a risk indicator.
