The characteristics of those persons under 25 years out of 50 cases of completed suicide were examined. These young people were mostly male, rarely showed signs of psychiatric illness, tended to use dangerous means for suicide, & showed a high determination to die. Few had given warnings, & only half of them had seen a physician previously. These characteristics of suicidal behavior in the young make it difficult for medical personnel to intervene. A case history is used as an illustration.
