Abstract
Progress Toward Achieving the National 1990 Objectives for Injury Prevention & Control
Nine injury control objectives established in 1979 as part of the nation’s health objectives are presented along with a status report, pertinent risk factors, & strategies for progress. The objective concerning suicide states: by 1990, the rate of suicide among those aged 15-24 should be below 1/100,000 population. Youth suicide has increased steadily since 1950; risk factors include e.g. familial suicide, prior attempts, & prevention includes e.g. school based screening programs. (GW)
