This news article updates the story of Elizabeth Bouvia who lost her 1983 Riverside County, California, Supreme Court fight to starve herself, but who established case law asserting a patient’s right to control her treatment regardless of age, health or motives. Her feeding tube was removed & her intravenous morphine supply reinstated. She is reasonably well, living in a Los Angeles County medical centre, & although she still wishes to die, is not planning any further lawsuits. (GW)
