The author discusses the evidence indicating that restricting access to methods for suicide reduces the rate of suicide by that method (e.g. detoxification of domestic gas in Great Britain) & may reduce the overall rate. Since guns are the most common method of suicide in the USA, he calls on suicidologists to support those organizations trying to restrict the ownership of guns by passage of state & federal laws, & by civil suits against those who manufacture, sell, & own guns.
