This article discusses teen suicide: a desperate,impulsive act signalling deep buried problems e.g. family divorce, unemployment; the inability of teens to communicate their troubles; the role of crisis centres as illustrated by Suicide Action Montreal; the value of good communication in helping the despairing teenager; clues to suicidal feelings e.g. radical personality change, sleeping & eating disorders; & the need for teachers & physicians, in particular, to be alert to these signs.
