The U.S. suicide rate for people 15-24 yrs old has risen 300% in the past 20 yrs. Children as young as 6 have attempted suicide. A sense of loss or failure, low self esteem, violence in society & pressures of growing up too fast are possible reasons for the increase in youthful suicides. More resources are being put into suicide prevention efforts in schools, medical practices, and other agencies in an effort to stem the increase in these suicidal acts.
