This article looks at the myths associated with bullies in schools; the relationship between bullying & youth suicide, & the solution to the problem as seen from research in Sweden, Norway, Japan & the U.S.A. In Japan, of 1000 cases of bullying, one quarter to one third, 250 per year lead to suicide. Research suggests that bullies differ from aggressive loners in that they have friends, use aggression selectively & are sensitive to adult censorship. (GW)
