Letter to the Editor. In reply to criticisms concerning their epidemiological investigation of suicide in persons with AIDS, the authors discuss their reasons for reporting rates on a population-time basis; for using the general population as a comparison group rather than a population of homosexual men; HIV testing as a possible risk factor, & their belief that the total number of AIDS-related suicides is definitely underestimated.
