This study examines the demographic characteristics of patients who attempt suicide with antidepressants; the sources of the antidepressants used, & the effect of ingestion of multiple substances on the length of hospitalization. Recommendations to physicians include: educating patients about the proper storage of potentially lethal medications, using caution when deciding on the amount to prescribe, establishing an endpoint for drug therapy & conducting a complete patient evaluation.
