Five cohorts of 100 members each of subjects admitted to an alcoholism rehabilitation centre were followed up for 12, 11,9, 6 & 4 years to examine mortality. 133 cases were located as deceased. In the youngest age class, 20-29, automobile collisions were the primary cause of death. There were no homicides among subjects age 40 or older. Suicide was the predominant cause of death after age 50. (8 refs.)
