Telephone hotlines are being formed in rapid numbers and are finding success in ways that other intervention methods are not. The hotlines allow client and counsellor to remain anonymous, give the client more control over service and bridge geographic barriers. It has been found that many people use the phone that would otherwise not seek help (allows for less commitment). Phone lines typically offer 24 hr service. The success is apparent but proper evaluation still has its difficulties.
