A personal experience of in-patient suicide is detailed. The process of & the problems encountered by the staff in working through the tragedy are described. From the standpoint of bereavement theory, similarities are noted between staff responses & the well-documented responses of spousal survivors of suicide. Staff responses are also considered in terms of emotional content & organizational support. The support required by the client group is also considered. (14 refs.) (RM)
